Each morning I will post the lessons for the day and homework on the MyHomework App that students access on their iPads. Students look at their app first thing in the morning to see what our day will be like. At the end of every day we review what homework there is and make any changes necessary due to our learning day. Please know that sometimes a lesson does take longer than planned and I believe in moving at the best pace for students optimal learning to ensure confidence, comfort and success with every child. So, sometimes daily changes will happen spontaneously to best support my students.
Please make sure that you ask your child to show you the homework app each day. There are many wonderful features that guide your child toward responsibility as well as features that will assist your child in their homework. If you ever have any questions, please don't hesitate to shoot me an email or text on remind. I will do my best to get back to you, but please know this might not happen till the next day as I do have a very busy nightly routine with my three children. :)
I believe that homework has 3 important purposes:
1. To practice skills learned in class that students can do independently, but not fluently, so students have an opportunity to explore concepts at home for deeper learning.
2. To teach students responsibility and promote self-confidence through independence.
3. To build a school and home connection by showing parents what students are learning at school.
I believe homework should NOT:
1. Cause anxiety or stress within kids that causes a lack of motivation or achievement.
2. Put the parent in the role of the teacher, necessary for students to complete homework successfully.
3. Take more than 30 minutes a night to complete.
